The THIRD MODEL
Civil War / Indian War Period Reproduction
Surgeon's Capital Amputating Kit

THIS WILL BE THE LAST COMPLETE KIT THAT WE WILL BE MANUFACTURING. IF YOU EVER WANTED A REPRODUCTION CAPITAL AMPUTATING KIT, NOW IS THE TIME TO GET ONE . . . AS WHEN THESE ARE GONE THERE WILL BE NO MORE.

Due to such popular demand I am pleased to announce and introduce my THIRD MODEL reproduction Civil War / Indian War period Surgeon's Capital Amputating Kit. This kit is as authentic as possible in every detail, as are all of my reproduction Civil War period medical and surgical items. Attention to detail and authenticity is always foremost in mind when I reproduce these kits. These kits are manufactured under the trade name of E.G. ARCHER and SON Surgical Instrument Co. and are very limited in number (only 75 will be made). This is the largest surgical kit I have produced.

Each kit consists of 36 separate items - 35 instruments, Including four Amputating Knives and Catlins; four Scalpels; three Tenaculums; a large brass Petit Tourniquet; three Saws - Capital, Hinged and Metacarpal; Bone File; Bone Brush; Dissection Forceps; Curved Scissors; Bone Forceps; Bullet Extractors/Forceps; Screw style bullet Extractor; Open Ringed Sequestrum Forceps; Nelaton's Probe, 6 Surgical Needles, Silver Wire and Silk Suture Thread, and one Handmade Wood Case with Military Style Locks. All of the instruments are precision made from the finest surgical steel available by a certified Ophthalmic Instrument Manufacture. This Civil War Period Amputating Kit is designed for historical purposes only. THESE KITS ARE NOT INTENDED FOR ACTUAL MEDICAL USE IN ANY WAY.

Some of my earlier model Amputating Kits were purchased and are on display in the Office of the Surgeon-General of The United States, The Surgeon-General of The United States Army, The National Museum of Civil War Medicine, The United States Naval Medical Museum, Gettysburg NBP, Vicksburg NMP, Fredericksburg NBP, Ft Laramie NHS, Ft Scott NHS, (National Park Service), Jefferson Barracks, Museum of Southern History, Chicago Historical Society Museum, University of Leipzig Germany and many others. My kits have been used in movie and TV productions including: Gods and Generals, Gettysburg, Dances with Wolves, Glory, Andersonville, Rough Riders, Geronimo, Civil War Journal, and Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. Furthermore, My Amputating Kits are the most widely used amputating kits in re-enacting today.

The retail price per kit is only $1,995.00 plus $55.00 UPS shipping and insurance. Overseas shipping and applicable state and local taxes are separate and in addition to the price listed. A minimum deposit of $850.00 is required to reserve a kit. I accept checks, Visa, Mastercard, Discover Card, and American Express. Also for your convenience a Lay-A-Way plan is available.
